Your Coach

Meet Coach Jacob

Jacob Hanson, #47 Furman University Paladins, active D1 football player and SSS coach
My Story

I transferred from Green Bay Southwest to IMG Academy. My family invested tens of thousands of dollars on that bet. First game, I missed 5 tackles and gave up a touchdown. I started asking myself if I was even built for this.

I turned that season around and earned an offer from Missouri State. Then they pulled it midway through my senior year. Back to zero. I walked on at Furman and had to earn my place from nothing, again.

What changed everything wasn't working harder. It was a specific system built around speed mechanics. I dropped my 40 from a 5.01 to a 4.63 and my shuttle from a 4.58 to a 4.05. That number changed what coaches saw when they looked at me.

I built the Scholarship Speed System to give every serious athlete the exact process I used, without the years of trial and error.

"I'm not special. I didn't have stars. I wasn't recruited early. I'm 5'11" and from Wisconsin, a state that isn't known for producing many D1 football players. The only reason I'm here is because of the pillars I embody from the Scholarship Speed System I developed."

Why Talented Athletes Are Getting Left Behind

If you're a serious athlete wondering why your 40 doesn't match your game speed, you're not alone. Here's what's holding you back:

The Recruiting Window Is Closing
  • Camp season is finite. If you're not ready, coaches move on.
  • D1 offers go to athletes who survive the 40, not just play well on Fridays
  • There are no second chances at a first impression in front of a coach
Generic Training Isn't Moving the Number
  • School weight rooms aren't built for 40-yard dash development
  • You're working hard on the wrong things. Effort isn't the issue.
  • Without a specific system, you leave tenths on the table every time
Pressure Kills Your Time
  • Your practice 40 runs faster than your camp 40, every time
  • Tension under pressure adds tenths you can't afford to lose
  • This is a skill gap, not a fitness gap, and it's trainable
Doing What Everyone Else Does
  • Camps, 7v7, and generic speed work get you generic results
  • The 40 is a standardized test. You have to train for it specifically.
  • The athletes getting offers are working a different system than you

You're not being overlooked because you're not good enough. You're being overlooked because your 40 time disqualifies you before coaches ever watch your film.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Most athletes drop between .20 and .40 seconds off their 40, with strength and body composition gains on top of that. Results depend on your starting point, your position, and how close your camp season is. Jacob confirms what's realistic on your first call.
Most in-person speed coaches give generic drills without diagnosing your actual speed limiter. SSS gives you more direct access to Jacob than most in-person coaches: 24/7 messaging, weekly 1:1 calls, weekly video breakdowns of your specific technique. After leaving IMG Academy — one of the most prestigious sports prep schools in the world — Billy Crider trusted Jacob with his development. The results speak for themselves.
Most athletes train 5 days per week using a split built around your schedule. Expect sessions to take 30–90 minutes depending on the amount of time you have available. The system is designed to fit around your school and football obligations, not compete with them.
If Jacob believes you're a fit, he'll get on a call with you to see if you qualify for the guarantee. Investment depends on the level of support you need to reach your goals — that conversation happens on your qualification call.
Yes. Put in 90% effort for 90 days and drop .20 off your verified 40 — or Jacob keeps coaching you at no charge until you do. He only takes on athletes he's confident he can get the result for. That's the point of the qualification call.
Local trainers can be great. But most aren't building programs specifically around what you need individually — your mechanics, your weaknesses, your recruiting timeline. Jacob used the Scholarship Speed System principles to drop his own 40 from a 5.01 to a 4.64 and has since used this exact system to help 75+ athletes do the same. That's a specific track record on a specific outcome.
Jacob reviews every application personally. If you look like a strong fit, you'll get a call to see if you qualify for the guarantee. He'll ask about your training history, goals, and current numbers. If he's confident he can get you the result, you'll talk about what partnering up looks like.
No. Applying is completely free. The application is how Jacob makes sure he can actually get you the result before taking you on as an athlete.
